Tennis Trading Secrets – The Duration of Trading Sessions
When people discover what I do for a living, they are very interested in how much time I spend trading a tennis match. In truth, I take each match as it comes and there is no set time limit to follow. Hence, the answer could be 25 minutes or it could be 1 hour and 10 minutes. Obviously, the goal is to make money but you have also got to consider how much of your time you are comfortable sacrificing.
The duration of trading sessions is another of those famous tennis trading secrets. You don’t hear many of the professionals talking about it. My own personal preference is for trading the first set only and then walking away with a green screen. This will be slightly offset in the favour of the expected winner. On average, this means I am staring at a screen for approximately 30 minutes and rarely trading for more than an hour.
There is an obvious difference between a typical 3 set circuit match or the longer 5 set matches you get in the grand slam tournaments. It is easy to walk away from the 3 set matches. However, the titanic 5 set battles we see in tennis are a real money spinner so you tend to stay in those markets for longer. For a grand slam, I will happily go with the first 2 sets and leave it at that. That said, some matches have 5 sets written all over them especially if a player comes back from 2-0 to 2-2.
If you can green up and cease trading early in the match, then you have achieved your objective. I remember the days when I was spending anything up to 3 hours trading a match. Afterwards, I felt more like I had played the match myself! Quite frankly it can be exhausting even though you are just sat staring at numbers on a screen. If that were not bad enough, if you have lost money to boot then it can be absolutely soul destroying.
There is no shortage of tennis trading secrets and the duration of trading sessions is a popular example. Keep your session as short as possible when you are in profit. If you can get into the habit of doing this, you will realise tennis trading is a tremendous way to earn a living. After all, as much as we love the bet exchange nobody wants to be sat in front of the computer all day.
