Roulette is the third biggest Casino game in the US and the world because of its relative simplicity. There are two versions. The European and the American. We will focus the American version in this article, although payouts are the same bar one. This is due to the American double zero.
Roulette payouts are not pot luck or simple jackpot wins, although they do vary depending on what was wagered in the first place and where the chip is placed on the mat. Detailed roulette payouts are explained below:
Straight bets yield the highest payouts because they have the worst odds of winning. A straight bet is when you pick one number out of all 36 to win. You can also choose zero or double zero. The payout ratio is 35 to 1, meaning if you wagered $10 you would get a nice $350 back. It’s this high for a reason though, because you obviously have a one in 38 chance of winning. Choose this bet on its own if you have cash to burn.
You can increase your chances but still get a high payout (at least where roulette payouts are concerned) by splitting your bet. This means placing your chip between two numbers on the board. If it lands on either of these numbers you get a 17 to 1 payout. You can take this option even further by using corner bets (where all four corners of each number meet) – yielding an 8 to 1 payout. You can use different combinations for more secure bets.
Perhaps the easiest method and at times the most rewarding (in the long run) is to simply bet on a color red or black. This however gives a low payout, which is even to how much you wagered. For example if you bet $10 and win, you get your $10 back with an extra $10.
Identical to this is the odd and even bet. Simply bet on whether the ball will land on an odd or even number. You do not have to decide the exact number it lands on though.
High bets are between 1 and 18, and low bets are between 19 and 36. Like the above two a winning bet would simply grant a payout of 1 to 1.
If you choose the first, middle or last set of 12’s you will get a payout of 2 to 1.
Of course these payouts can alter as you use different combinations at once – but in doing so you greatly decrease your odds of winning at all, and you can quickly burn through your whole bank balance.
The simplest method as outlined above is to bet on odd or even and red or black. Combine this with the Martingale system of doubling your bet amount after a loss and you will eventually always be in the positive. It just depends on how big your bank balance is and if it can take a huge losing streak, or adhere to the maximum bet limit whilst taking a loss.

1. Do not form patterns on the ticket sheet. You need to be random. So choosing all the numbers down one side of the sheet will put you at a disadvantage when playing the lottery.
2. Do not form zig-zags on the ticket sheet. Again, you need to be random. Just think of the numbers that you want to play and mark the off on the ticket sheet.
3. Do not form circles, shapes etc. Think of the most obscure and random things that are number related and use these for your lottery numbers or to give you some ideas.
4. Do not pick numbers that have already won. Choose lottery numbers carefully. You need to be random and these numbers will almost never occur again. This leaves you at a disadvantage. Try using a recommended syndicate if you have trouble choosing lottery numbers. Research syndicates first. http://www.uk-national-lottery-results-and-numbers.com
5. Do not use Birthdates. They stop you going higher than 31. This is one of those tips that you don not realise could be a problem until you see it written down in black and white.
6. Do not use repeating numbers. This is not random. Also, the system only allows you to use each number only once.
7. Do not use consecutive numbers. This is not random. How true this is. When last did you ever see consecutive numbers in a winning lottery result. Yes it could happen but it is more likely NOT to happen.
8. Do not use all even numbers. One lady contacted me and said that she could not use any other type of number. Using only even numbers will limit you when choosing lottery numbers.
9. Do not use all odd numbers. This is because you are neglecting one half of all the numbers that you could be choosing from. Not good, especially if the results showed that 2 of the winning numbers in the lottery results were even. So use both odd and even numbers.
10. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, is not random. These numbers all follow each other so they are consecutive.
11. 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 is not random either. Choose lottery numbers wisely. Although these numbers are bigger, they are still not random.
12. 7, 17, 27, 37, 47 …All of these numbers have 7 in them. It is highly unlikely that these numbers together will win you a lottery jackpot. You get the picture.
In summary, choose lottery numbers using a mix of odd and even numbers, use the full range of numbers e.g. 1 to 49 and be as random as possible.

With the recent suicides of comedian Richard Jeni and band Boston leader Brad Delp, I started to reflect and research about other high-profile suicides. I learned that there were many famous, success people, talented artists, actors and musicians who suffered from depression and have successfully committed suicide. Sadly too many for just one post.
I never had suicidal ideations prior to vagus nerve stimulation therapy. I just didn’t want to live. There is a subtle difference. We all know the difference between not wanting to live and actually committing suicide.
If you have suicidal ideations, you should immediately call 911, a family member and the Suicide Help Line; 1-800-SUICIDE( 800-784-2433)
These people had everything, yet they had nothing:
Johnny Ace (1954), singer, American singer, playing Russian Roulette
Nick Adams (1968), American actor (“Rebel without a Cause” with James Dean), close friend of Elvis Presley and member of Elvis’ so-called “Memphis Mafia”, overdose of paraldehyde and Promazine.
Marshall Applewhite (1997), leader of the Heaven’s Gate cult
J. Clifford Baxter (2002), Enron vice-chairman
Ricky Berry (1989), American NBA Basketball player (Sacramento Kings)
Jonathan Brandis (2003), American actor, Kate & Allie, LA Law, hanged
Cheyenne Brando (1995), Daughter of Marlon Brando, hanged
Kurt Cobain (1994), lead singer and guitarist of the American rock-band Nirvana, gunshot
Ray Combs (1996), former host of popular American game show Family Feud, used bedsheets to hang himself
Dennis Crosby (1991), actor, son of Bing Crosby
Andrew Cunanan (1997), killer of Gianni Versace and four others
Denice Denton (2006), University of California Chancellor, jumped from 42-story San Francisco apartment building
Richard Farnsworth (2000), U.S. actor, Oscar nominee
Vincent Foster, (1993), Deputy White House Counsel in the Clinton Administration, gunshot
Sigmund Freud (1939), founder of psychoanalysis (lethal dose of morphine)
Dave Garroway (1982), original host of NBC’s Today Show
Rusty Hamer (1990), American former child actor (The Danny Thomas Show)
Lois Hamilton (1999), actress, The Dukes of Hazzard and Three’s Company, locked herself in a hotel room, took sleeping pills and placed a plastic bad over her head.
No single factor has gained acceptance as a universal cause of suicide. However, depression is a common phenomenon amongst those who commit suicide. Psychiatrists says that depression is suicide left untreated, but suicide is 100% preventable if treatment is sought.
I was shocked at the number of well-known suicides and I am only partially finished with this research project. Please comment with any insights as to why famous people commit suicide. Perhaps we all can learn something.
Charles Donovan was a patient in the FDA investigational trial of vagus nerve stimulation as a treatment for chronic or recurrent treatment-resistant depression. He was implanted with the vagus nerve stimulator in April of 2001. He chronicles his journey from the grips of depression thanks to vagus nerve stimulation therapy in his book:
Out of the Black Hole: The Patient’s Guide to Vagus Nerve Stimulation and Depression
His all inclusive book prepares depression sufferers to make an informed decision about this ninety-minute out-patient procedure. It is a “must read” before you discuss this treatment with your psychiatrist. A prescription for the procedure is required from an M.D. and it is covered by most insurance plans.
